Hope you all had a good Halloween. As the holiday season approaches we can put a few things behind us. The Little league football is winding down this coming weekend. Very big thank you to Ray Coats and Marlene Balmer for working the snack shack every night for several months.
The 2 football fields are marked out however we do need to set markers in the ground. The Goal Post situation is taken care of for this year. The School has graciously donated the goal posts from the original football fields, much appreciated for the new avenue we are traveling with the Youth Sports programs in Orting.
We worked with Sholz Farms again this year at the Pumpkin Patch. 4 weekends selling concessions at the Scholz farm with most of the proceeds going to the Orting Foodbank and the Scholarship Fund for Orting Grads. We appreciate the opportunity given us by Alan Scholz with this project.
The Turkey Shoot is coming up Nov 15th at the Sumner Sporstman's club starting at 10:00 am. The proceeds from the Turkey Shoot go towards the Orting Foodbank and Gary Jones, donating food baskets and turkeys to families in the community over the holidays. Several prizes are being raffled this year, among them is a 12 ga shotgun, smoker and BBQ basket. The proceeds are directed towards upkeep and advancement of the Youth Sports Program at the Orting Lions Community Park.
The drawing will be held on Dec 6th at the Christmas/Tom & Jerry Night. Doors will be opening at 6:00 with the dinner beginning at 7:00. There will be a board meeting on the 12th, and the next dinner meeting will be on the 19th, hope to see you then.
