EBT & Debit at Farmers Market- increased food accessBy: Patty Villa
May 01, 2015
Great news!
When the Orting Valley Farmers Market opens on June 19, it will begin accepting EBT payments for allowable purchases each market day! Debit cards will also be accepted! This will make shopping at the market even easier for those who don't have cash on them, as vendors are often cash only. The market will use a token system that works like this: Go to the market booth and tell them you'd like to purchase tokens with your card. Swipe your card, designate the amount you want to use, and you will receive tokens in that amount. Give tokens to vendors as payment. EBT tokens will be $1. We hope to be experts at this program quickly, and are hoping you will give us plenty of opportunity to practice! A lot of exciting things are happening this year, and we want you to join us at the market each and every week for your produce shopping! Support your local farmers and producers and keep the market growing, vibrant and strong! |
