Please read the original article posted about the bridge. Building a new bridge does NOT require removal of the existing landmark bridge. In fact, the existing bridge will be used to carry traffic during construction of the new one which will be built just east of the existing bridge. It can be left in place after the new bridge is built and it can be incorporated into the foothills trail for a wider, safer crossing than the railroad bridge currently being used by for the trail.

I understand the need to preserve history, however there needs to be a functioning bridge over the Puyallup River. Drivers are intimidated by this bridge causing them to slow down and impede traffic that already is backed up. I would also love to see the beautiful river that is covered by the thick support beams. Sorry, I would much rather see God's beautiful creation then mans. Everything is the "only thing like it" at one point or another.
