Emergency Preparedness - Seminar -You, Your Family & Your CommunityBy: Brian Kaplan
July 21, 2013
Emergency Preparedness, You, Your Family & Your Community.
July 22nd - 6:30-8pm at Alpha & Omega Restaurant and Coffee House. Free to the General Public RSVP @ P:253-863-6619 or write bk2@uptowncoffeenews.net Even though Emergency Preparedness Awareness Month is in September nationwide...we feel living in the Greater Pierce County area that we need more awareness due to our Rivers, Streams, Storms, (During all Four Seasons) and possible natural disasters that can occur today unexpectedly. We currently are 40 years over due for a major Earthquake in our area! Are you prepared if your cut off from help, stuck in your car or in your neighborhood. Did you know the average grocery store shelves will empty in 4 hours? Its true. So why wait till fall-? we need to be aware and prepared at all times... we live in our community 12 months out of the year and we all need to be prepared at greater levels. www.UCN.Thrivelife.com Recently we met Monty Reed - Retired Army Ranger , Independent Representative for Shelf Reliance, speaking with him and about his program we realized we are somewhat prepared but we could do better. His systems , his website at Facebook can help us prepare for any of these events or disasters by planning, preparing and have life sustaining supplies and foods on hand in our homes, churches and institutions on private and public levels. Being prepared takes a plan and preparation. What if the grocery store ran out of milk, bread, water or other essentials, are you prepared? Did you know that can happen in as little as 4-hours? What if power failure knocked out your ability to use refrigeration? What if a flood cut you off from getting to the local grocery store or convenience store, are you prepared to feed yourself , your neighbor or an elderly person or child in your community or in your home. What if we had an earthquake and you were stuck in your car for days? Do you have the resources to sustain yourself in your car? We personally have for a number of years now put resources in place in our home to insure that even the most minor of emergency or power failure for extended time - we can function comfortably in our home and if needed help a neighbor. We suggest that all persons attend this meeting Monday night and we will be doing one every 4th Monday of the Month at Alpha & Omega Restaurant 1015 N. Meridian Puyallup, WA 98371 - RSVP limited seating (35 persons) You can also register at Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/events/580961855288474/ |
