Orting High Honor Society Community Outreach

The Orting High School branch of National Honor Society on November 14th congregated at the Washington Veterans Home numbering 34. We worked for almost three hours all over the property doing jobs such as raking leaves, hedge trimming, gardening, and other various landscaping duties. As a group we worked around 3 separate buildings and vastly helped to clean up the landscape in preparation for the cold months. As a crew we filled the back of a dump truck nearly ten times with weeds, leaves, and plant clippings. Overall it was a strong outing for the Honor Society and just another great community outreach program put together entirely by our student membership.

The Honor Society also has many other outreach programs planned in the coming months as well. Starting in January we have a reading program set up in cooperation with Orting Primary School in which our members will be spending their after school time reading with primary students. We also have another gifting drive starting in December for the holiday months to make sure we spread joy to as many people during the holidays as we can. The Honor Society has a busy upcoming schedule and it is all focused toward the community.
