Orting School District Thanks the OPD

Thank you, Orting Police Department!

Dear Staff, Families, and Community,

We are very fortunate in the Orting School District to have a long-standing and valuable partnership with our Orting Police Department. In fact, it is through this partnership that the District is able to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) to assist with safety and emergency preparedness. I’m sure many of you have met our new SRO Officer Geoff Boone. His skill and professionalism is an incredible asset as Officer Boone is overseeing our safety drills and helps with security matters. However, what is also exciting is that Officer Boone helps to build positive relationships between our students, staff, and school community with our local law enforcement.

The District recently received our ThoughtExchange data back and our community communicated that student safety emerged as one concern for Orting School District. In response to safety concerns, Orting Police are touring all of our school campuses to become familiar with layouts, entrances and exits, utility access points, and overall campus safety and security. Officer Boone is leading this exercise that provides law enforcement officers important information in case of a school emergency.
