Each week throughout the school year, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) recognizes twelve varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week.
I wanted to notify you that Jon Thompson, a Senior , from Orting High School was nominated by a community member and selected by WIAA staff as one of the Athletes of the Week for achievements in Football.
Thompson proved to be the answer for the Cardinals’ defense, as they took down Clover Park 64-6. He recorded four inceptions (two for touchdowns), two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown), and two touchdown receptions.
In recognition of their accomplishment, each Athlete of the Week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA Executive Director, Mike Colbrese, a commemorative WIAA State Athlete of the Week t-shirt, and a certificate. Winners are also posted to the WIAA website at www.wiaa.com
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to speak with a representative from WIAA about this students accomplishments.
Thanks,
Anthony Derrick
