February 18, 2016
Each week throughout the school year, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) recognizes twelve varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week.
I wanted to notify you that Erik Jacobson, a Senior, from Orting High School was nominated by a community member and selected by WIAA staff as one of the Athletes of the Week for achievements in Wrestling. Jacobson captured 1st place at 220 pounds in last week’s Region 2 wrestling tournament. He pinned the first two opponents and won the final match 7-1. The Cardinals took first place as a team. In recognition of their accomplishment, each Athlete of the Week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA Executive Director, Mike Colbrese, a commemorative WIAA State Athlete of the Week t-shirt, and a certificate. Winners are also posted to the WIAA website at www.wiaa.com Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to speak with a representative from WIAA about this students accomplishments.
